Essential oils - why is it worth having them at home?

Essential oils are natural substances derived from plants. Usually, we associate them with beautiful fragrances. However, there’s much more to essential oils. High-quality products derived from certified crops have beneficial properties for our health and well-being. They are most often applied in aromatherapy, but you can use them for other purposes too, e.g. skin care.

However, remember to appropriately prepare essential oils before use – usually, they must be diluted with a base oil, e.g. sunflower, grapeseed, or linseed oil. This is necessary due to the fact that the effect of concentrated essential oils is too strong and can damage the skin. So which essential oils should you have at home?

  • jasmine oil - helps to restore skin elasticity and has brightening properties. It can be used for acne and in the case of scars and stretch marks;

  • - rosemary oil - improves blood circulation, relieves muscle and joint pain. It is used in aromatherapy for headaches and helps to relax;

  • - eucalyptus oil - has an antibacterial and antiviral effect. Helps with respiratory problems. Strengthens the immune system;

  • - thyme oil - recommended for skin with acne problems, treats inflammation and prevents the spread of bacteria, which minimises the risk of new lesions;

  • - basil oil - can be used for insect bites, and is also recommended for eczema, redness. It is a perfect addition to massage oils;

  • - geranium oil - has a relaxing effect, helps against cellulite, relieves nervous tension and depression;

  • - pine oil - soothes rheumatic pains and myalgia. Used for inhalation during colds, sinusitis and inflammation of the upper respiratory tract;
